Jan Haga Jr Obituary

Jan Haga Jr., 38, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 6, 2020 near Garberville, California due to injuries from a fall.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 - 1:00 p.m. at the Harvest Church in Baker City.  A reception will follow at the church.

Jan Leith Haga Jr. was born June 22, 1982 in Portland, Oregon. Jan moved to Halfway, Oregon in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and exploring all the natural beauty the valley had to offer. It was not uncommon to see him following a local stream with his fishing pole. These were happy times for him.

He left the valley at an early age and began to wander and explore what the world had to offer him. Jan held several jobs during this time, but his favorite one was managing the health and welfare of elephants in Oklahoma for a traveling circus. Although these were troubled times for him his faith in the Lord gave him comfort.

Jan’s love for Eastern Oregon brought him home to Baker City in 2016. His faith soon took him to Harvest Church in Baker City where he became an active member. He enjoyed all the activities the church had to offer and volunteered continually for events assisting others in the community. He adored working through the church as a Royal Ranger Commander teaching youths. His favorite Bible verse was Galatians 2:20 "My old self has been crucified with Christ it is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself to me." Jan had recently begun attending Grand Canyon University and working hard to attain good grades.

Excerpts from Jan’s facebook page: “July, 16, 2016, the day I was freed from my addiction and one of the most important dates in my life. There are only a few things in my life that rate on this significance. One is when I came to Christ; the other is the births of my children. Through no effort of my own I was lead to salvation by my savior Jesus Christ. He has been slowly molding me and shaping me into a better man.”

Jan is survived by his parents, Jan Sr. and Karen Haga; sister Karly; children; lots of extended family and all those that knew him and loved him. For those who would like to make a memorial donation in memory of Jan, the family suggests the Harvest Church through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.  Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
