Harold Anthony Kinney Sr. Died Naturally on March 20, 2021. He was born on October 29, 1951 in San Francisco, California. Harold was 69 year old. He was a proud member of the Yurok Tribe. Many family member and friends knew Harold as “H.K.” He was an easy-going and fun loving man. He was happiest whenever he could be around the numerous cousins, nephews and nieces at family reunion on tribal ceremonies. Harold brought joy a laughter to the community with his unique sense of humor and artwork. A lot to people called him “The Mayor.”
Growing up in the seventies, Harold loved listening to the Oldies but Goodies especially his favorite band, Carlos Santana, with that strong Latin beat.
By trade, Harold was a house painter and craftsman. Also, he was a skillful salesman as he seemed to be everywhere in the local area, laughing and sharing his adventure stories. He had a number of one-line catch phrases; like at times when cutting firewood, he would say “bring me some of that Cadillac wood!”
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kinney Sr., his mother, Zelma (Minard) Kinney; his brothers, William W. Kinney and Wayne Kinney, his grandparents, Charles Minard and Lucinda (James) Minard, Carson Kinney Sr. and Clarrisa (Dowd) Kinney.
He is survived by his son, Harry Kinney Jr., his brothers; Robert Kinney Jr. and Les E. Kinney Jr. and Many cousins, nephews and nieces.
The entire family deeply appreciates Harold’s loving caregivers and extended family at the Yurok Trinity River Elder’s Village. Also, thanks to his medical doctor and compassionate nurses at Mad River Hospital. In addition, many thanks to his social workers at the Yurok Tribe.
